Senior Java Software Engineer

If you are the kind of software engineer who cares about your craft and wants to push yourself harder, then you will find yourself in good company working on this team. They are building an open-source database that blends the simplicity of SQL and the scalability of NoSQL to deliver astonishingly fast ingestion rates and query performance. Basti, the team lead, is an engineer in the truest sense. His standards are exacting and particular. Still, he finds joy in his work, and he is looking for someone who cares about what they build and how they build it. Your code will need to be clean and robust. You are, after all, working in public and your customers are software engineering teams who themselves are working on tricky distributed systems that are highly performant. If this sounds like the kind of challenge that would bring out the best in you, then it would be worth reading the next bits carefully (of course, you would anyway, you are detail-oriented) and then getting in touch. If you meet the following criteria; - At least 5 years of software engineering experience - You have worked heavily in Java and probably consider it your strong suit - Experience of working on hard problems or distributed systems - Actively contribute to open source projects Then you already have a lot of what this team are looking for. It would be a massive bonus if you have previously built databases or spent a lot of time figuring out how to get the most from the ones you have used. FAQ's - What are the working arrangements?
