Director of Operational Excellence & Digitalization- Large pharma Site role in Austria

This global Pharma Manufacturing site experiencing a Transformation of the company with a heavy focus on performance breakthrough to produce more volumes at flat COGS. **Director Operational Excellence & Digitalization (m/f/d)** **Location:** Graz, Austria **Organization:** Member of the Site Leadership Team **Employment Type:** Full-Time We are seeking a highly experienced and impactful **Director Operational Excellence & Digitalization** to join our leadership team in Graz. In this strategic role, you will be responsible for driving measurable performance improvements across the site and shaping the Operational Excellence (OPEX) strategy in alignment with global objectives (TechOps & Quality), as well as OPEX goals. You will lead and execute high-impact projects across quality, safety, service, cost, and people - strengthening our culture of continuous improvement and operational performance. If you are an Operational Excellence professional who thrives in transformational environments and is ready to take on a pivotal leadership role, we encourage you to apply and take the next step in your career. **Your Responsibilities** **Operational Excellence &** **Digital** **Transformation Leadership** - Coordinate OPEX and  **Digital**   transformation programs at the  **site level** , by ensuring strong alignment with global strategy and performance goals.  I **mplement and use data-driven performance management and digital reporting tools.** - Support of global OPEX projects (network of pharma sites **)** **contributing to**   **process standardisation, digital harmonisation, and scalable best practices** . - Conduct  **comprehensive site diagnoses**  and design improvement roadmaps. This includes developing and implementing tactical implementation plans (TIPs) to address critical performance gaps. - Monitor and communicate  **performance metrics** , including financial impact and operational KPIs. **Capability Building & Cultural Transformation** - Enable the site to build high-impact transformation skills and methodologies by co-leading targeted improvement events using internal excellence frameworks  **and** **best in class corporate digital and AI supported solutions** . - Drive adoption of a continuous improvement mindset across all organizational levels. - **Enable, Build and maintain a high level of Opex & digital capabilities “fit for purpose” across all organizational levels** **Standards & Operational System Deployment** - Implement global OPEX standards on site, ensuring compliance with mandatory elements across the network. - Own defined elements of the operating system, contribute to standard development, and manage key administrative processes of the OPEX team. - Maintain and further develop the OPEX SharePoint   **ecosystem**   **enabling effective knowledge management, collaboration, and standardized documentation across teams.** **Your Profile** **General Requirements** - Extensive Lean training and proven expertise in Operational Excellence, including transformation programs and process improvement initiatives. - Strong experience in **site diagnosis** , bottom‑up transformation methodologies, and development of improvement roadmaps. Lean expert with deep experience of Kaizen approach and Mini-Transformation methodologies (focused on simultaneous changes to processes, governance and people mindsets & capabilities) - High business acumen with the ability to combine strategic thinking and solid project management skills to identify operational, organizational, and financial levers for performance impact. - University degree in a technical or business discipline, science, pharmaceutical sciences, or equivalent field. - Several years of hands‑on experience in **Technical Operations** , ideally within manufacturing, operational excellence, or organizational development functions. - Demonstrated experience collaborating with global teams and delivering measurable results in cost savings and process optimization. - Preferred experience in **aseptic cGMP manufacturing environments** . - Experience as part of a site leadership team & strong stakeholder management capabilities on local & global level. - **Fluency in German and English** (both required) Job rewards and compensation package are very attractive for Austria: for the right candidate, there is a level of negotation possible in line with director level ranges. Candidate minimum criteria: - Previous experience of a minimum of 5 years as an Operational Excellence Director at site level and/or 5 years site operations leader with high level of hands on delivery of Opex. - Hands on coaching and mentoring of senior leadership team on the ground - Able to relocate near the site to *ensure* full time presence.
